SOUL SEARCHING

2 months have passed - literally 2 months - since I've written a blog post. You all must be wondering why the silence and well I've been contemplating about what next to do in my life. Some may call it "quarter life crisis"; I simply call it soul searching. I'm coming at a crossroads - and to a certain extent I guess I've been pondering about my next move. Singapore has been home for about 5 years now and I can't complain about my life here. Amazing isn't enough to capture the life I've led and am leading here. Singapore is a nice little bubble of a city to stay in and I've fallen into a comfortable routine of sorts - to the extent that I feel like I've found "home" - but deep down I've always known that I'm looking for something still. Suffice to say my travels the past few months - Hong Kong and New York of late - have shed some light on where I want to be next or even maybe what I want to do next. And it has been enlightening. So I guess I HAVE been soul searching. Changes to be made all around - even my blog is up for a face-lift in the next few weeks so do watch out for that - and I am ecstatic. Of course you'll have to watch out for my posts on my Hong Kong and New York trips - I've seen so much and had so much fun that it's sad I haven't written on the go. But experiencing the cities and spending time with the people I was with was more important, rather than focusing on what to write about. So, you guys'll have to make do with throwback posts ;)

Anyhow, change is coming - and I am beyond excited! Being impatient is a detriment at this point so I'll have to watch my impulsiveness but I know all these change(s) are for the best and I'll get there. For now - do watch this space!!

Season's Round Up # 70: PRADA FALL-WINTER 2013

Prada is one of those labels that keeps us guessing. Her collection each season showcases a different woman - but one that is all about eccentricity, modernity and female power. For FW2013 the collection brought about a sense of the undone - wet hair and half-done-up cardigans and all. Yet in spite of the seemingly grunge-d up look, there was a sense of purity and strength that is still oh- so-Prada. What do you think fasioneistas?

THE PERFECT FLOWER STORM

Prada has released its SS2013 campaign and true to form it is as eccentric and as fabulously elegant as the pieces we saw in the runway a few months back. I just love it!!! It's sheer art and poetry - a refreshing take on the dynamic persona of the modern day female.

This is taking girl and flower power to a whole new level eh? Brava Prada!

Season's Round Up # 52: PRADA FW2013 MENSWEAR

Prada has long been heralded for her well thought of designs and this season is no different. If the staging of the entire show wasn't enough of an indication - the "ideal" house referencing the late 60's framed by imagery of cityscapes and a playful feline - I don't know what else would be. Prada's FW2013 Menswear collection was an epitome of contemporary design so if this is what you're after then look no further. It has been a while since Prada produced classical, elegantly poised and wearable collections, as the past seasons traversed her creative mind in ways that astounded and renewed the love for this brand. You won't be seeing any of the loud prints or screaming accessories and instead you'll see traditional garments decorated with more classic prints such as the houndstooth; bringing us back to the classic days of the label.

What made the show unique would be the use of slightly off colours, the ruffled tuxedo shirts and the thick grip soles that gave a twist to otherwise staple business shoes. The shoes are actually a bit reminiscent of the recently released FW2012leather "clown" shoes for men. That being said, the collection will definitely last in any man's wardrobe given it's classic stance.

Season's Round Up # 38: PRADA SPRING-SUMMER 2013

This has got to be THE BEST SS2013 Women’s RTW show I have seen thus far. The absolute best! Genius!! I guess Miuccia was reserving her creative genius for the women’s line as this was out of this world compared to the men’s line we saw a few month’s back.

Prada’sSS2013 show was in itself modern, unique and oh so cool and covetable. The pieces, seemingly inspired by Japan, exuded a modern take on the geisha. You’ll find pieces in muted colors, embellished with huge, decadent and bold floral prints – bringing forward a modern take on the Japanese kimono. Each piece makes a statement, whether via a sprinkling of spray-painted or stencilled florals or with a flash of red or maybe a blush of pink and even a splurge of white painted in a black canvas. The cuts were also of note, where we see boxy silk jackets, stiff skirts and of course the off-shoulder wraps, oh the wraps! I would love to be in Japan wearing any one of these pieces. Oh and did you notice the accessories - the small clutches or the eye-catching flats and commandeering platforms? Sheer genius. Absolute fabulosity. Magnificence at it’s best. Obviously, I’m enamoured and in love! I could only wish that the men’s collection she showcased a few months back brought to life the same level of aesthetic feel that will command a cult following for sure. Can’t wait to see the pieces myself – who knows, maybe I’ll find a way to don one piece from the collection. After all, fashion is a statement, and any one of these will definitely make one.

Hermes Gift of Time Exhibit

Over the weekend I had the opportunity to visit the Hermes Gift of Time Exhibit located at the Tanjong Pagar Railway Station here in Singapore. What do I think about it you might ask - magical...simply magical. The exhibit is a short journey around a space that is basically a circular room, with installations that depict the history of Hermes in a dreamlike quality, as crafted by American artist Hilton McConnico, who is a long-time collaborator of the brand. It's evident in the photos that you see below and it was simply inspiring to say the least. Definitely a must see, so I'd highly advice visiting it while you can before it heads back to France post the 12th of August. More photos on the next page!

And of course I couldn't avoid doing a mini-shoot in the railway station. It was too beautiful a place to pass up the opportunity on!

I really am going to miss SS 2012 - bright colors and fun prints ruled the fashion scene and it just helped keep things light and fun everyday. So before FW 2012 officially comes in, I've been embracing the season's trends to the fullest -

The result? A vivacious outfit that a lot of people who saw me that day dubbed as Rainbow Brite - and I think I can see why [LOL!]. Well, what can I say? I love me some rainbow!
