THINGS to KNOW ABOUT THE MARGIELA with H&M COLLABORATION

It's right around the corner. The pieces are out. The prices are up. What else is there to know about the Margiela with H&M collaboration? Well, there are a few interesting tidbits that I thought you guys should know:

1) Wondering why the prices for these pieces are not as economical as they should be? Well it's because everything in the collaboration that is made of leather is actually made of real, genuine honest to goodness leather [including the coveted shoes!]. None of the PVC or faux leather business here.

2) All apparel purchased from the collection will come with gorgeous white-washed hangers and white cotton dust bags. Honestly, this is a PLUS considering the prices that's available for these pieces. Talk about fast luxury!

3) There are a few "surprise" items apart from those that we've all seen online. One interesting piece for the ladies would be these gorgeous pumps with a removable heel[worth SGD 199 a pair]. The heels are drilled through and laced with a ribbon, which you can detach and use as a necklace. Genius eh?

Now let's talk about pricing. I have the updated pricing in SGD for my favourite pieces in the collection. One thing I want to highlight are some of the must have pieces from the men's collection - such as the hand painted loafers will costSGD299 a pop, the hand painted ankle boots will set you back SGD 399 a pair and for one of the most coveted pieces in the collab, the trompe l’oeil high-top sneakers is only setting you back for SGD199. Remember folks, these are Margiela designs in REAL LEATHER so these prices are actually AMAZING!

For the ladies, check out the SGD prices above. Seeing these prices are making me want to queue up first thing on the 14th! Some of the pieces are priced quite well I must say, considering the quality and the amount of goodies that you'll get along with it. For more information on the pricing of the full collection, just visit H&M's website and you'll get the full list with product descriptions. See you all in the lines!

MARGIELA for H&M FAVORITE PIECES

It's literally less than 20 days before the launch of the Margiela for H&M collection and the hype for it is higher than ever. The launch party in NYC for fashion's elite has been lauded with much success - so much so that pieces bought from there are now out and about in eBay. Anyhow, as we fashion plebeians await for the collection's availability in stores on the 15h of November we can only tide ourselves with the pieces we're longing to have. Well, my list is as long as it can get.

I tend to favour the ladies' collection [no surprise there] with pieces that I feel are unisex in any case. I'm in love with the coats and jacket selection and I'm hoping [against hope] that they would be suitable enough for "cold office" weather here in Singapore. The white sneakers are not bad either and I have a feeling that these would be one of the first pieces in the collection that would bid adieu. 3 of my absolute favorites would have to be the - oversized jeans which brings me back to my flare loving days in secondary school, the trousers with mini which are just so high fashion and finally the oversized pea coat.

Well suffice to say, the men's line is as appealing to the high fashion junkie as the ladies' line is. I have quite a few pieces I have my beady eyes on but the highlights for me would have to be the jacket made of belts and the shoes - those gorgeous shoes. A couple of other noteworthy pieces would be the fusion jackets and coats. These look fairly pretty on photo but I'm keen to see them first hand before I pass final judgment.

That's about it. Are you guys as excited as I am?? Can't wait for these pieces to be available in stores!

The much-awaited collaboration from the Margiela for H&M collection has recently released sneak peaks of the advertising campaign. The campaign was shot by artist and director Sam Taylor-Johnson, and it features a sneak peak of what is to come. You'll find a selection of uber chic pieces, showcasing what seems to be a focus on silhouette and cut - much like what we see from the French fashion house's high-end collection. Aside from this, tidbits of what to expect from the campaign has been released where we can expect to find a series of short films and still photographs, of course all shot in Paris. From what I'm seeing thus far I am BEYOND EXCITED! As expected from a fall-winter collection, we're seeing a ton of high-fashion coats for both men and women. I seriously have my eye on the off-white number that was paired with snake skin skinny pant. The pieces for men are not bad either. Though from a distance the brown trench looks like any other, after close inspection you'll find distinct design elements that make it oh so Margiela. Oh and did you see the shoes on the dude? OMG! Obviously I'll be one of the few anticipating the release on the 15th of November. I hope H&M Singapore sees this and gives me an early pass!

Season's Round Up # 15: GAULTIER, MARGIELA, VALENTINO FALL WINTER 2012 COUTURE COLLECTION HIGHLIGHTS # 1

With the end of the FW2012 Couture shows in Paris and the anticipation of the SS2013 RTW shows in September, let's do a round up of some of the noteworthy shows that I didn't have time to do full reviews but I thought were quite interesting - GAULTIER

2 words best describe Gaultier's show - risqué and totally androgynous. High fashion drama drama drama was at the center of the show - from the hour and a half late start to the bold and daring looks that went down the runway - definitely something that you won't forget. I myself love the looks that can be worn by both genders - specifically the corset number you actually see on one of the male models.  I also love the opulent feel that the gowns evoke, which look like a modern take on flapper dresses of way back when – only longer.

MARGIELA

Masked models seemed to be a key theme in the runway and it was ever present in the high fashion line from Maison Martin Margiela. The collection evoked a sense of mystery and intrigue, not only through the fencing inspired masks, but through the use of colors that somewhat reminds me of a foggy dawn or evening. The 15-set look used colors that were quite earthy, most likely to help root an otherwise out of this world avant garde showing. Nonetheless, it's this type of whimsy and fashion forwardness that help inspire slews of new up and coming designers; so kudos to the team for having the vision to land such a collection.

VALENTINO

I think this is one of the most stunning, luxurious and rich collections from the FW2012 Couture shows that I've seen. The use of pieces that border between RTW - such as jumpsuits and capes - interplayed with rich fabrics was phenomenal! I loved the use of deep dark colors i.e. black and navy and of course more traditional Valentino ones such as red, specific to the flowy gown you see in the photo above. The use of prints and frilly fabrics, on grandiose pieces, which I personally think are still wearable in spite of the fact they're couture, is a decadent welcome to the collection. All in all, definitely one of the best in my books.

MAISON MARTIN MARGIELA with H&M COLLABORATION

And it is official - avant grade French label Maison Martin Margiela is the latest collaborator of famed fashion brand H&M, with an expected worldwide launch of November 15. I found out about this while having dinner with my dear friend Bobby of StylesiLove and we were both so ecstatic over this piece of news! Though less known compared to previous collaborators of H&M, it is expected that the clamor for this upcoming release will be as successful as that of the Versace and Jimmy Choo launches given the high buzz around it. Known for their high-end fashion forward pieces, it's definitely a breath of thrilling news to fasione-istas on a budget. The collection is expected to release both men and women items, as seen in the below video sneak peeks of what would potentially be part of the line:
