Season's Round Up # 77: GALLIANO FALL-WINTER 2013

A couple of words come to mind when I view this collection - strength and confidence. And this is exactly what designer Bill Gaytten wanted to present during his 3rd Galliano show. It was all about discipline. It was an interesting theme that played with the idea of control - and you'll see it across the staple pieces of Galliano designs such as in the draping, the bodycon, the embellishments and color palette. What I loved was the androgynous feel the collection had, much like what we saw from labels such as Lanvin. Definitely something I'll keep my beady fashion eyes out for this!

Season's Round Up # 63: OSCAR de la RENTA FALL-WINTER 2013

THE biggest piece of news during #NYFW and I think one of the most watched - the collaboration of renowned and lauded designer Oscar de la Renta and John GallianoGalliano has been MIA for quite a while since his dismissal from Dior a couple of years back and he's now back to wreak glorified fashion mayhem by taking residency with Mr. de la Renta. Rumours even suggest that he can be tapped as a potential successor of the master designer himself down the line. Exciting isn't it? Well if this first showing is any indication then I must say leaving Dior proves to be beneficial to Galliano[and de la Renta if I can say so myself!]. The first few looks that sashayed down the runway screams drama and silhouettes that Galliano is well known for. Notice the quirky hats [that I absolutely must have!], cinched waists and Red Riding Hood [or should I say grey?] inspired cloaks - easily attributable to Galliano's design touch.

Well, over and above the strong opening, the collection is simply beautiful. Grandiose and powerful without becoming overbearing. I can't even select fave looks because the whole show is just simply too amazing! You'll just have to watch the entire clip as every minute is worth it. Truly - I think the future is bright for Galliano and even brighter for de la Renta's label.
