SOUL SEARCHING

2 months have passed - literally 2 months - since I've written a blog post. You all must be wondering why the silence and well I've been contemplating about what next to do in my life. Some may call it "quarter life crisis"; I simply call it soul searching. I'm coming at a crossroads - and to a certain extent I guess I've been pondering about my next move. Singapore has been home for about 5 years now and I can't complain about my life here. Amazing isn't enough to capture the life I've led and am leading here. Singapore is a nice little bubble of a city to stay in and I've fallen into a comfortable routine of sorts - to the extent that I feel like I've found "home" - but deep down I've always known that I'm looking for something still. Suffice to say my travels the past few months - Hong Kong and New York of late - have shed some light on where I want to be next or even maybe what I want to do next. And it has been enlightening. So I guess I HAVE been soul searching. Changes to be made all around - even my blog is up for a face-lift in the next few weeks so do watch out for that - and I am ecstatic. Of course you'll have to watch out for my posts on my Hong Kong and New York trips - I've seen so much and had so much fun that it's sad I haven't written on the go. But experiencing the cities and spending time with the people I was with was more important, rather than focusing on what to write about. So, you guys'll have to make do with throwback posts ;)

Anyhow, change is coming - and I am beyond excited! Being impatient is a detriment at this point so I'll have to watch my impulsiveness but I know all these change(s) are for the best and I'll get there. For now - do watch this space!!

INSIDE the CHANEL JACKET

If there is one thing I'm craving for and am absolutely dying to have - that would be a classic jacket from Chanel. As the Maestro would say it, "there are things in fashion that would never go out of style - jeans...a white shirt...and a Chanel jacket." And darn it I agree!

Oh how I long for the day and that day must come soon!

Season's Round Up # 80: CHANEL FALL-WINTER 2013

Each season, the maestro of fashion - Karl Lagerfeld - transports us into a world that is purely Chanel. Each season he makes it a point to land a show that is completely unforgettable and this season he does just that. Welcome to PLANET CHANEL!

This show is a showcase of Chanel's imminent strength, power, position and status as a fashion powerhouse; aptly shown on the revolving globe with CC flags all over to show its worldwide prowess. And the AW2013 collection is no different. This has got to be one of my faves for autumn-winter if not THE BEST show IMHO. If only I had enough loot and the right weather to wear them, I would be sashaying in all Chanel next season - with those gorgeous high collars on tweed aviator coats, the chain-draped biker boots or the luscious combination of pink and black coats and even the fluffy pink and teal hats. Just sheer fashion perfection!

I think Lagerfeld is trying to make a statement that as the world is turning - so does he with his un-seemingly endless supply of ideas and collections at Chanel. And personally, I wouldn't want him to stop! He's a living artist and we need him to constantly feed us with his fashion art! After all, art helps make the world go round ;)

CHANEL PARIS-ÉDIMBOURG METIERS d'ART 2012/13

Yay for the Scots! Their rich heritage and culture has inspired one of Chanel's most dynamic and lively shows thus far. And you guys are in for a fashion orgasm.

Held at the Linlithgow Palace in Scotland last 4th of December, the Kaiser Lagerfeld crafted a collection that was brought to life by expert pairing and craftsmanship of varied textures, patterns, fabrics and color. You'll see a lot of Chanel’s classic designs revitalized with a fresh and modern feel, inspired by Scottish patterns. Over and above that, the Scottish inspiration is prevalent all throughout - from the awe-inspiring runway [and freezing temperatures! I pity the audience lol] and of course the story that the runway crafted from start to finish. The collection celebrated Scotland’s “romantic and barbarian” spirit whilst staying true to Madam Coco’s philosophy. What was interesting about the show was apart from glorifying tweeds and knits, it seems that there was an “anti-stiletto” theme to its entirety. Further to these, the artful mixing of wools, tartan and plaids with lace and chiffon, created an awe-inspiring juxtaposition of the past and the present. You'll also notice that there won't be a lack of embellishments in this collection and they are so crucial to making everything come to life. All in all, making the collection of the most beautiful & gritty in the history of Chanel!

CHANEL N°5 BRAD PITT ADS

I know this ad has taken quite a beating across the globe. People seemed to be put off with the simplistic and seemingly lack lustre ad. Well, of course there's the undecipherable script and scruffy appearance of Brad Pitt. I guess in the first place a lot of people were wondering why Brad Pitt; considering the money he was paid for, people expected something more.

Honestly though I love the poetic feel the ad evokes. From what I’ve seen of Chanel N°5 ads they have been known to emulate 2 things – the fragrance’s character intertwined with the persona of the endorser. Nicole Kidman's was dramatic and opulent; Audrey Tautou's was romantically quirky and effervescent and so on and so forth. With the series of Chanel N°5 Brad Pitt ads, I think that it still does the same thing. Looking at it closely, there is just one message I'm getting out of it [at least in my opinion]Chanel N°5 is deep and timeless regardless.

I guess to each his/her own with this ad. Personally, I loved it. It’s inevitable. Lol. Whatever people say about it - good or bad - believe me Chanel's already gotten the publicity it needs. Almost 6 million views for both ads just about does the trick eh?

Season's Round Up # 50: LAST FEW SS13 PFW FAVE SHOWS

Busy does not even encompass the amount of craziness my week has been. Preoccupied with work, visitors and events [oh and I missed out on 2 already :(] on top of falling ill - are just some of the highlights. In any case, since I haven't had time to take a breather and my week is just about to begin again, I thought I'd just share some of the last few SS2013 Women's RTW shows that I just adored. I know they're already done and over with but I couldn't help myself - these shows are just amazing! CHANEL

Extravagance as a word is not enough to describe this HUGE ASS show! From the ginormous runway and spinning windmills to the larger than life silhouettes, patterns and pearls featured on the runway to the of course infamous Chanel Hula Hoop Bag - it's a show that just screams glam and bam! No other designer could have pulled this off other than the Maestro Lagerfeld himself no? This enormous show deserves ENORMOUS LOVE and I'm sure Chanel addicts will be waiting with bated breath to grab a piece here and there when the collection comes out.

LOUIS VUITTON

How do you beat a carousel or a train themed fashion show? Why with checked escalators and runways of course! Duh! Season after season, Marc Jacobs brings whimsy and fantasy to Louis Vuitton's shows and it's this brilliant match of fancy and amazing designs that have propelled the label into one of the BIGGEST, if not BIGGEST fashion houses in the world. This season is no different where we see Monsieur Marc push the envelope even further. Checks and seemingly stencilled floral prints would be this season's inspiration, layered with electric hues that would be enough to dazzle one's fancy for fashion. I love how he's used squares and grids, which the label is well-known for via their Damier print and reinvented it. Guess we'll be seeing a ton of checked out fasioneistas next season huh?

MC QUEEN

I guess it's enough to say that bees were Burton's inspiration for her SS13 Women's RTW Collection. And it was definitely a sweet sweet victory for her as the collection stung like a bee! If you weren't stung by the Mc Queen Bee this season, I don't know under which rock you've been hiding - you'll need to get out and get stung girl! It was sheer brilliance - colors, patterns and prints were reminiscent of beehives, honey and bees themselves. Though the fashion pieces felt more like couture vs. RTW, I think the show's highlight would be its accessories. Fasioneistas all over will definitely be lusting after the shoes, bags, clutches and jewellery that came down the runway. And who could ignore those gorgeous and fashion forward beekeeper hat? I definitely couldn't! Thinking of getting one myself! Lol Guess the Mc Queen Bee stung me that bad ;)

LOTUS F1 HELMET for HEADS EVENT

F1 Season has passed in Singapore just a couple of weeks ago and I was able to attend one of the press events held at the Ritz Carlton for Lotus F1 and CLEAR. The 2 powerhouses sponsored this initiative to bring awareness on the need for safe driving – of course through one thing they have in common: protecting heads [one through sensible & safe driving and the other via the scalp against scalp problems]. The teams advocated helmet wearing and even had Lotus F1 drivers – Kimi Raikkonen, Romain Grosjean and Jerome D’Ambrosio – sign helmets for an auction that will profit the advocacy of road safety and helmet wearing. Truly, it was a note worthy cause deserving of the hype and publicity!

Anyways, the night was filled with a ton of activities for members of the press. Check out some of the snapshots above from the event itself. And of course, I couldn’t resist the opportunity to have fun and dress up for the event myself no?
