Season's Round Up # 62: VICTORIA BECKHAM FALL-WINTER 2013
Victoria Beckham is not just a personal style icon of miine, she is fast becoming one of my personal designer faves - closing ranks on Céline and Saint Laurentwhich are my top 2 absolute go to's.
For #NYFW, Ms. Beckham's collection does not fail to impress [at least in my humble opinion]. This season, we see her evolve her signature shapes to combine voluminous pieces with the restrained. Her pieces are powerful and strong - aptly so after being included in BBC Radio's List of Most Powerful Women in Britain.
We'll see a focus on London design roots - from the fabrics used [tweeds, plaid and herringbone] to knits and coats - indicative of being influenced by her recent move back to London. Obviously, you'll see this aesthetic in my top picks of her collection. I loved as well the bursts of color found throughout the collection - cobalt and canary yellow - which added drama to the already sharp and linear pieces.
I think what makes Victoria's collection unique and awe-inspiring is how it reflects her own personal sense of style - on top of the fact that each season her collection is stepping up its game more and more. As a designer, she's stayed true to her vision of dressing up the woman - and each season we see her vision coming to life, cementing her status as a bonafide designer extraordinaire. Well, if I can say so myself a fashion tour de force!
