Season's Round Up # 21: MONIQUE LHUILLIER SPRING-SUMMER 2013
This has got to be one of the best shows I’ve seen thus far from the offerings in New York Fashion Week. Monique Lhuillier is out to prove that she is not just your ordinary run of the mill designer. She is more than the wedding designer extraordinaire that she already is. She’s an all around fashion diva powerhouse! Watch out fashion big wigs, this one’s out to get you.
Lhuillier’sSS2013 RTW Women’s Collection is seemingly inspired by the sea – from the backdrop of the set to the individual pieces that you see strutting down the runway. Her creations transformed the models into sea nymphs or better yet, sea goddesses that are out to make their mark on the world! Opening the show with 2-piece tight fitting wonders to the end of the show where gorgeous – barely – there patterned gowns were shown, each piece definitely made an impact. My love for the dramatic flair biased my fave looks from her collection. It wouldn’t take a genius to figure that I love the gowns shown towards the end of the show. It’s just amazing how she designed these pieces to look as if they’re part of your skin! And the attention to detail – imagine how painstaking each one of these were made. Talk about craftsmanship!
Memorable, unique and completely out of this world – these are the key words I can think of when I saw this collection. Brilliant girl! Can’t wait to see more from her!
