Season's Round Up # 33: PROENZA SCHOULER SPRING-SUMMER 2013
Proenza Schouler is perhaps one of fashion world's most influential brands. Hordes and hordes of fashion's elite flock to their show and this season is no different. I heard it was done in a far-off location in a dilapidated building, reflecting the misshapen beauty that is their SS2013 Women's RTW Collection.
This season, we see the boys of Proenza using collages throughout the collection as a means of a template to create beautiful pieces out of seemingly disjointed materials and patterns. You'll see a lot of snake skin prints, electric hues from blues and greens to reds and oranges and clean straight lines. It's not only in the texture where we'll see diversity this season, the materials used in the collection contrasted with each other from leather to flowy chiffon and even denim, creating a sense of dynamism in the pieces. Next season seems to bring about a sense of street chic meet punk rock or even Oriental looks into Futurism. At the end of it though, it's a collection that imbibes a sense of youthfulness and energy - things that are much needed for the season in any case. Kudos once again to the infallible Jack and Lazaro!
