Season's Round Up # 34: MULBERRY SPRING-SUMMER 2013

I have unfortunately been quiet the past few days that London and Milan Fashion Week has been raging on as I’ve been uber busy with work and I did attend an event for F1 Singapore[which is for another post]. In any case, I’m slowly starting to catch up on the shows and I must say I’m extremely pleased with what I’ve seen thus far – dare I say more so than the shows during NYFW.

First up, none other than the idyllic, quirky, fun and vivacious SS2013 Women’s RTW show from Mulberry. The theme was obviously as jovial as it could get, evidenced by the runway that was designed with a plush grass-like carpet to gnomes and more gnomes! And of course, who could forget that black poodle strutting down the runway with some of the looks – cute!

The clothes, on the other hand, reflected Mulberry’s design aesthetic as expressed by Emma Hill with a fun, romantic twist. I adored the seemingly ice cream inspired palette – vanilla white, toffee brown, apricot, fondant pink and spear mint – pleasing to the eye and oh so spring-summer, but still very sophisticated and posh. I think what stole the show would be the floral theme, reengineered into floral buttons and bold daisy imprints on the clothes, coats and even the bags. Oooooh! And who could ignore that new bag design that Mulberry showcased called the Willow - a multi-functional tote-clutch hybrid, which I expect will be a.Must Have next season. I think this season we see the label growing into a more sophisticated look, while staying true to who they are – and this is the appeal it has on me. Definitely one to watch this coming spring!
