Season's Round Up # 49: GIVENCHY SPRING-SUMMER 2013
One of my absolute favorite labels, Givenchy, showcased a collection for SS2013 Women’s RTW that mixed beauty, purity and power all in one collection. Models that evoked an ethereal grace and beauty were seen down the runway. Don’t get me wrong though, Mr. Tisci’s designs still maintained the label’s edgy persona and this is what made the show brilliant…just brilliant.
This season he once again effortlessly combined hard and soft shapes, which is not an easy task if you ask me. Colors that I could never have imagined intertwined were mixed in a showcase of light and dark – baby blue, whites and black. Attention to detail is a must as we see rivets holding waists and shoulders, on top of chokers worn around the ladies’ necks. In terms of cutting, we see short-sleeved jackets, billowy sleeves and ruffles – a ton of restrained ruffles. Yet again, the master of dualism has done it. This is what makes Givenchy so relevant this day and age – the sense of empowerment and balance it gives to the wearer. Who wouldn’t want that no? Kudos to Mr. Tisci for another job well done!
