Season's Round Up # 5: BURBERRY PRORSUM SPRING SUMMER 2013 MENSWEAR
I'm still on the fence on how I feel about Christopher Bailey's SS 2013 Menswear Collection for Burberry Prorsum. Part of me feels like his last few collections were just so brilliant and amazing that the latest one pales in comparison. That said, the more I look at the collection, the more I feel like maybe I'm wrong. After all, you still see Bailey's signature pizzazz shockers in this one. In the past 2 seasons, we saw the use of bold patterns, wood chips and animal prints to add life to otherwise traditional pieces, this season shocking metallic hues would be your culprit. You'll see metallic trench coats that look like pink aluminum foils, made of soft billowy silk, sashay down the runway. Metallics are featured everywhere from the collar of a cabanto dress shirts to iPad cases [which I must say looked exquisite] and my absolute favorite of the metallic ensembles, this shirt which has a cowl neck that looks divine when layered with the most basic of pieces.
Of course you'll have the tried & tested patterns to spice up your classic duds - from one of the Must Have pieces in my opinion - a diamond print bomber jacket - to a mustard yellow crepe silk shirt with an engineered wood-cut print. All in all, I must say I think I'm still salivating over some of the more key pieces from this show. And at the end of the day, I'm definitely still looking forward to seeing these pieces when they hit stores next year!
By the by, for those interested to get a head start, you can already pre-order some of the show's key pieces online via Burberry [CLICK HERE] until the 1st of July.
