Season's Round Up # 44: MARNI SPRING-SUMMER 2013
My review of Marni’s SS2013 RTW Women’s Collection is coming in late but as they say it’s better late than never. I don’t know why I completely forgot to check out the Marni show, it must be because of the fact that I’ve been so crazy busy. Anyway, on with the show eh?
Checks and grids were predominant on the runway for the label this season. Plaids and sliced dots were amongst the other patterns seen sashaying down the runway, alongside trapeze day coats, a-line skirts and peplum. Obviously, volume was crucial to Castiglioni this season and she’s done it in such a chic and truly Marni fashion. What was interesting to me was how the label portrayed a sense of frigidity yet kept it playful, fun and soft – making perfect spring-summer garbs. I think the other thing that I loved about the collection was how it seemed to evoke a sense of timelessness. The pieces were very now, yet it can work for you regardless of season, age and time. An amazing feat don’t you think?
