The Philippines is a great country to explore. With 7107 islands to its name, there's a lot to see and a horde of things to do. Believe it or not, despite living in this amazing country there's not enough time in the world to be able to traverse what it has to offer. It's actually our goal, aside from being able to travel around the world, to be able to explore our own country's backyard.
Batangas is a province located in the south of the capitol of the country and a highlight would be the fact that it's famous for its diving spots. Anilao is one of them and it's ideal for a quick getaway from the hustle and bustle of the metro. Travel time would typically be about 2 1/2 hours from Manila but depending on the unfortunate traffic situation in the city it could run up to 4 hours.
We lodged at Bambu Villa Resort during our stay there. Cozy and homey would best describe the place; perfect for relaxing. The highlight for me would be the Filipino-inspired interiors, utilizing a lot of bamboos in it's design. Maintenance-wise, personally think they could do better. But if you're willing to rough it out a bit for that elusive quiet time, then I'd highly recommend it for a weekend trip!
